اكتشاف نقيشتين غير منشورتين بمدينة ألتافا

Altava is a city that holds a great significance in ancient history, it bears the marks of the influence of several civilizations: Roman, Vandal, and Byzantine. However, today, no visible traces of these occupations remain, due to the fact that the site was not fully excavated during the colonial era. Our knowledge of this city is still largely incomplete, and to lift the veil on its historical layers, we must rely on the remains that still exist, particularly the Latin inscriptions, and that highlights the importance of our work.
During the pedestrian survey conducted between 2021 and 2023 in Ouled Mimoun, we made an exceptional discovery: two unpublished Latin inscriptions, preserved within the food, grain, and related industries company. These inscriptions are Christian epitaphs dating from the 5th century AD, they include a variety of Christian symbols such as the monogram, the alpha and omega and “the prayerful” as well as other Christian attributes.

تعد مدينة ألتافا من المدن ذات الأهمية البالغة في التاريخ القديم، إذ تحمل آثار تأثيرات حضارية متعددة، منها الرومانية، الوندالية، والبيزنطية. غير أنه في الوقت الحاضر لا توجد أي بقايا ظاهرة للعيان تشهد على تلك الفترات التاريخية، ويعود ذلك إلى أن الموقع لم يخضع لعمليات تنقيب شاملة خلال الحقبة الاستعمارية. وبناء عليه، فإن معرفتنا بهذه المدينة لا تزال محدودة إلى حد كبير، وللكشف عن طبقاتها التاريخية، يتعين علينا الاعتماد على ما تبقى من شواهد مادية، ولا سيما النقوش اللاتينية، الأمر الذي يبرز أهمية هذا البحث.
وخلال أعمال المسح الميداني التي قمنا بها بين سنتي 2021 و2023 في مدينة أولاد ميمون، تمكنا من تحقيق اكتشاف استثنائي يتمثل في اكتشاف نقيشتين لاتينيتين غير منشورتين من قبل، محفوظتين داخل مقر المؤسسة المتخصصة في الصناعات الغذائية والحبوب ومشتقاتها. وقد تبين أن هتين النقيشتين عبارة عن نصبين جنائزيين مسيحيين يعود تاريخهما إلى القرن الخامس للميلاد، ويحتويان على مجموعة من الرموز المسيحية المتنوعة، مثل الصليب، والألفا والأوميغا، وشخصية الداعية أو المتضرعة، إلى جانب رموز وعناصر دينية مسيحية أخرى

Altava est une ville d’une grande importance dans l’histoire antique. Elle porte les stigmates de l›influence de plusieurs civilisations : romaine, vandale et byzantine. Cependant, de nos jours, il ne subsiste aucune trace visible de ces occupations, en raison du fait que le site n›a pas été complètement fouillé pendant l›époque coloniale. Nos connaissances concernant cette ville est encore largement incomplète et pour lever le voile sur ses strates historiques, nous devons nous appuyer sur les vestiges qui subsistent encore, en particulier les inscriptions latines, et cela souligne l’importance de notre travail. Au cours des travaux de prospection pédestre menés entre 2021 et 2023 à Ouled Mimoun, nous avons fait une découverte exceptionnelle : deux inscriptions latines inédites, conservées au sein de l›entreprise des industries alimentaires, céréalières et dérivées. Ces inscriptions sont des épitaphes chrétiennes datant du Ve siècle après J.C, elles comportent une variété de symboles chrétiens tel que le monogramme, l’alpha et l’oméga et l’orante ainsi que d’autres attributs chrétiens.
