As it is indicated in the title, this research is a study of the consular representations of the merchants and the Christian states in the cities and ports of the western Islamic states. It focuses on the State of the Hafsid as it is the best case where historical documents are most available to support any scientific claims in this area of investigation. The study relies on documents, which consist of treaties concluded between the diplomatic parties of the time, i.e. the Muslims, on the one hand, and the Christians, on the other hand, as well as the exchange of official letters between them with various topics and aims

يدرس هذا البحث، كما هو ظاهر من العنوان التمثيل القنصلي للتجار والدول المسيحية في المدن والموانئ في دول الغرب الإسلامي. ويركز بصفة خاصة على الدولة الحفصية لأنها تمثل بامتياز النموذج الذي تتوفر فيه الوثائق التي تسمح لنا بدراسة هذا الموضوع.
تعتمد الدراسة في أساسها على الوثائق وهي في مجملها المعاهدات المبرمة بين أطراف العلاقات، مسلمين من جهة ومسيحيين من جهة أخرى، والمراسلات المتبادلة بينهم على اختلاف وتنوع مواضيعها واغراضها. وهي وثائق تزخر بالمعلومات التي تخص الموضوع بالدرجة الأولى

titre, le présent travail tourne autour des consuls et des représentations consulaires des commerçants ainsi que des Etats chrétiens dans les ports et les villes du Maghreb, spécialement à l’époque de l’Etat Hafside. Notre étude aspirait à couvrir une période plus longue, toutefois, en raison du manque de documentation, nous nous sommes limités à cette période de l’Histoire. En ce sens, le présent travail repose sur des documents de deux types ; d’une part, les accords consignés passés entre les musulmans et les chrétiens. D’autre part sur les échanges épistolaires entre ces deux protagonistes dont les sujets sont aussi riches que variés et qui ont surtout pu nous renseigner sur le thème abordé par ce travail.
