Reception Theory in the Essays of the Algerian Academic Ali Bakhoush

Abstract

This research paper’ s main aim is to shed light on Ali Bakhoush’s essays concerning Reception Theory, based on a vision that views reception as a complex process that goes beyond the passive reception of a text to become an active act of reading that produces meaning through the dynamic interaction between the reader and the text. Accordingly, this paper is not limited to reviewing the basic concepts of Reception Theory as presented in the Western critical context, but focuses on how these concepts have been understood and used within the Algerian academic field in general, and in Ali Bakhoush’s essays in particular. Regarding the diversity of his essays, a fundamental question emerges to guide this study: Did Ali Bakhoush, through his different essays, manage to establish a critical approach that completely captures the essence of Reception Theory, or did he remain constrained by a historical perspective in his engagement with Western concepts?.

تتغيّأ هذه الورقة البحثية تسليط الضوء على مقالات علي بخوش حول نظرية التلقي، انطلاقا من رؤية ترى في التلقي عمليةً مركّبةً تتجاوز الاستقبال السلبي للنص إلى فعل قرائي يُنتِج المعنى؛ من خلال التفاعل الحيّ بين القارئ والنص، وبناءً على ذلك، لا تقتصر هذه الورقة على استعراض المفاهيم الأساسية لنظرية التلقي كما طُرِحَتْ في السياق الغربي، وإنّما تركّزُ على كيفية استيعابها وتوظيفها في الحقل الأكاديمي الجزائري عامة، وفي مقالات علي بخوش خاصة، وبالنظر إلى تنوّع مقالاته، يَبرزُ سؤال جوهري يوجّه هذه الدراسة: هل استطاع علي بخوش من خلال مقالاته أن يؤسّس لمقاربة نقدية تستوعب جوهر نظرية التلقي؟ أم أنّه ظلّ رهيناً للرؤية التاريخية في تناول المفاهيم الغربية؟.

Cet article de recherche vise principalement à mettre en lumière les essais d’Ali Bakhoush consacrés à la théorie de la réception, à partir d’une conception qui appréhende la réception comme un processus complexe dépassant la simple réception passive du texte pour devenir un acte de lecture actif, producteur de sens grâce à l’interaction dynamique entre le lecteur et le texte. En conséquence, cette étude ne se limite pas à l’examen des concepts fondamentaux de la théorie de la réception tels qu’ils ont été formulés dans le contexte critique occidental, mais s’attache à analyser la manière dont ces concepts ont été compris et mobilisés dans le champ universitaire algérien en général, et plus particulièrement dans les essais d’Ali Bakhoush. Compte tenu de la diversité de ses écrits, une question centrale se pose pour orienter cette recherche : Ali Bakhoush est-il parvenu, à travers ses différents essais, à fonder une approche critique qui saisisse pleinement l’essence de la théorie de la réception, ou est-il demeuré tributaire d’une perspective essentiellement historique dans son appropriation des concepts occidentaux ?.
